Pinpoints of pleasure

I love the variety in my life. Example? These photos were all taken in the last couple of days. Not shown are scones and tea at the Laughing Teapot with J, nor the all-day meeting at the Geneva Writer's Group and a hundred other pinpoints of pleasure that make up my days.

When I first came to Switzerland in 1990, very few stores took credit cards. Twenty-three years later most do and this poster is offering debt counseling services. Not sure this is progress. As for me, I only charge what can be paid off at the end of the month.

For smokers outside a restaurant. There fire burn warm in the outdoor oven and the orange blanket covers knees. Another stove in the background also warms the area so even as a non-smoker leaving the restaurant the transition from heat to cold is gradual.

Lunch with an artist and an Indian dancer at Le Cottage. This was chicken in a crust, pureed and well seasoned aubergine, courgettes and carrots. The food was great, the conversation even better.

A beautiful door in the old town.

A sign in a restaurant window (It's where a former waiter from Marro works). It says if you speak outdoors, please speak less loudly. Swiss are not a people that like noise. Flushing in an apartment building after ten pm is just not nice.

Two chess pieces on a fountain against the old wall of the city. I wonder if they are missing from the giant chess board at the Place Neuve. After dark someone had turned them so they were kissing.

Today we travel south. So looking forward to the little adventures any train ride in France brings and the cookie shop at Montpellier.
